「パン」シリーズで知られるミッチェルより登場した名作アクションゲーム。8方向レバーで「麒麟」を操作し、アタック、ジャンプ、スペシャルアタックの3つのボタンとシンプルながら、天井につかまったりスライディングから敵を投げることができるなど多彩なアクションが可能である。他にもスペシャルアタックの大殺陣「キリン星祭り」やレバーを振って攻撃することで「キザミ舞い」と呼ばれる強力な技を繰り出すことができる。ゲームプランナーにカプコンを退社した「ストライダー飛竜」の四井浩一氏が関わったことや、同作に酷似していることで有名ではあるが、そのストーリー、アクション共に完成度は高く、また出回ったのが少なかったことも重なり、現在でもカルト的な人気を持つ作品である。

ストーリー:
近未来、連邦政府の支配する絶対管理の時代を舞台とし、思想テロ集団スレイヴァーを相手に、主人公「麒麟」はただ一人戦いを挑む。目的は唯一つ「姿なき神」の完全なる破壊とスレイヴァーの消滅。狄の戦士。それは、忍者たちの源泉とされる仙術を継承し、おのれの肉体を兵器のレベルまで鍛え上げた者たちであり、その兵器ともいえる身を売ることが、彼らの職能なのだ。中でも麒麟は秘流の体術を継承した、トップクラスの男。その麒麟の今回の雇い主は、連邦法務省長官「ジャック・レイソン」。都市中央区画にあるスレイヴァーの神殿の破壊が目的である。

This game is known outside Japan as "OSman".

This game is often compared to "Strider", and the main reason for that being because in the early 90's several Capcom employees went to Mitchell including Isuke, the original Game Planner for Capcom's "Strider". He is credited as the sole designer for Cannon Dancer which is why the two games are so similar.
