Huge Plaice caught from the shore using an unusual bait combo at Chesil Beach, West Bexington, Dorset, UK.
An unusual bait combo (to be revealed in a future video) was used whilst fishing from the shore to catch this huge Plaice measuring 57cm and was caught on a Pennel Pulley rig with a size 3/0 main hook and 2/0 Pennel hook. I have caught more than my fair share of Plaice but this is a big plaice and according to an online fish size-to-weight converter it is believed to be 4lb 8oz.
The same 'unusual' cocktail bait combination was used to catch a 6.5lb Turbot from another nearby beach, the video of the Turbot is on my channel.

This bait combo is my best bait combo for flat fish and this is the biggest Plaice caught from the shore in the UK I have ever seen, please let me know if you have seen a bigger one. Catching a big Plaice feels great, in fact catching any fish that is bigger than average for that species is what most sea anglers strive for. I enjoy fishing for Plaice and Turbot and all flatfish. To catch the best Plaice from the shore is a dream but apparently trying to beat the current record held since the 1980's with a Plaice of way over 8lb is going to be tough to say the least but you never know. The guy who caught the huge plaice from seaford beach is well chuffed and that video is worth a watch, well done to you buddy, a great sized Plaice. I know how you feel!
