Visual Journaling : Lesson 1 | FUNDAMENTALS with Justina Stevens

Visual journaling is a rhythm that we have cultivated as a ministry for the last decade. As a community, we have lovingly called this process ‘History Booking’, using this rhythm as a meeting place to cultivate memory, exercise gratitude and reject fear.

Each of us have been deeply impacted by the process of keeping a visual journal in communion with the Holy Spirit. Over the years, we have taught this to students and guests of our schools and retreats. Instead of simply journaling words or conversation with God, we have taught others to expand on that same process and use visual terms and methods.

We have found visual journaling to be an amazing way to cultivate stillness and contemplation at home and ANYWHERE you are with the Lord. Ultimately, we want to give you a resource to practice a posture of joy in your sonship and daughterhood before the Lord.

Today marks the launch of a new series that we are launching for 2020.

wow, thank you so much for this. It's funny how years can pass and busyness can make a person forget their childhood. I used to do nothing but create, water color and draw when I was little but once I got into High School that began to change and then now as an adult I realize that I have completely forgotten my creative roots. I pulled out my old water color drawings and marveled. This video has inspired me to pick up water-coloring again. Thank you.

I love it. I started to get into colage phase and thought i might tie it to psalms- and make my own private psalm booklet- and then you come and tie the journaling to g-d and i love it. I may not share the same faith as you- but i love that g-d sent me a sort of - thumds up- for that and the praying at the end and keeping it private for the time being....

Oh- and uor friends face- how happy he was at the end- to show us we are all artistic- just surpressed by life and schooling...

This is was wonderful! I am a retired art teacher looking to teach on line but share Christ in the process! This was awesome..it was subtle and not overbearing.. letting the Holy Spirit lead. I hope to be able to do this ..as the Lord leads me! Love the techniques you shared, as well!

I’m so happy and excited to see these history book videos! I’ve had my history book for a few weeks now and I’ve not journaled much in it. It’s so pretty and lovely, I’m hesitant about doing something that’s not great quality. I am restricting myself, not wanting to mess up the pages of the journal book at. But this Video has motivated me to take the risk of making a mistake and being more committed to journaling in my history book. I love these videos and the encouragement from Justena is wonderful. The only thing I would suggest, is that the first prompt, it was hard to see both of their sketches with just the white paper and pen. Maybe there could be more close-ups of the drawings in. But otherwise, this was superb. Blessings to you all!
