This reminds me of people that keep pet boa constrictors. One day the human is found dead.

I used to look after young bulls. Walk among a herd of 30 or 40 in a large yard. They were playful pushing big round bales of straw around as I unrolled them for bedding. After a year old we walked over them on gantries, they could bend a gate and rip it off its hinges and were a half tonne of pure muscle. Even a cow nearly killed my father, but you could stroke them normally.

A bear is an apex predator. Always.
