Sodium ion battery is better for Stationary storage because energy density doesn't matter,
And Sodium ion battery can be 30-40% cheeper than Li ion battery if mass manufactured.

Panasonic make its Tesla batteries inside the Nevada Gigafactory. Panasonic has a technological partnership with Tesla in which Tesla scientist like John Goodenough provide the chemistry and Tesla industrial engineers help them scale up manufacturing of their batteries. Tesla is also applying this same partnership with CATL, LG and and even BYD. Tesla is not demand constrained, but is battery constrained. So the more battery partners, the merrier. Tesla is also already making its own 4680 batteries and about to ramp up production.

Read that CATL has begun building some nice Megapacks for Chinese market. Tesla is also more than doubling its Megapack production with Shanghai Megapack factory opening next year or sooner…$75 billion in revenue per year

Batteries can play a role in system voltage support and frequency support. How much I do not know because rotating turbines are also used for this type of system support. What I would like to see is the economics of supplying baseload power with solar and batteries. This requires a large investment in dedicated solar to recharging the batteries in addition to millions to install the batteries to provide off peak power.

GE was been a much better investment since 2021 than Tesla esp with their GE Vernova spin off to shareholders
