Is the Republican party different now??

Are Republicans the party of big corporations? Of small businesses? Of union and working-class voters? In some ways, the answer to all three is yes, and because of that, despite all of Trump’s influence, Republicans are still a party in transition, their identity not entirely fixed.

Republicans continue to struggle to reconcile appeals for votes and voter groups that have not traditionally supported them with the policies that Trump and other GOP elected officials espouse — big tax cuts for wealthy Americans being one example. Are they for the little guy or the billionaire class, for policies to promote unions or to curtail union power, for workers or chief executives?

"to be seen as" is the key here. They know they need the support of blue collar workers, so they have to make the right noises.

Complete Cosplay. The GOP doesn’t even think workers should have water breaks in high heat.

If corpos don't pay taxes they shouldn't get protections from the gov

The Republicans always want to be seen as the ruralist populaists, but they rarely ever vote in favor of populism, and they don't seem to be changing

A room full of liars told people what they wanted to hear even though they plan to do whatever they want? Shocking.

Wtf is the president of one of the largest unions in the country talking to a bunch of corporate lap dogs? All it does is make you look foolish

Him being there caused a giant revolt in the Union because obviously. Hes a mouse negotiating for fellow mice to work for the cat. Its not pro worker if your doing it to boost the image of the boot on their neck

Considering they also wanna get rid of worker protections against discrimination based on race, gender, and sexuality. Yeah not even close to real change working class cosplay.

While I'd like to hope this is a genuine act, knowing how politics of all sides goes, I'm worried this is just to make them look good, then not fufil a promise...

I am disappointed the teamsters union even stepped on the stage. Your struggle isn’t a token to be performatively waved. If they don’t support you, don’t give them any credence of working class camaraderie. Ridiculous.

It's election BS. The parties act like the only time they work is election season. We've been watching you work every day since we were born. We know what you care about and prioritize.
