Most of the accusations were prompted by land grabs. The second most common type of people accused lower those that lived on the edge of the village, closest to the forest were accused because of their land and they didn’t have as many neighbors to fight for them. Many of them also had land disputes with their neighbors.

The Salem Witch Scare started with a family feud between two families. They also blame EVERY terrible thing that happened in history on ergot poisoning (French Revolution is a popular one). I think people were just ignorant, bored, and violent.

We learned about the fungus. Back in 2008 we learned about the trials and our teacher Ms Schaefer told us is was a bad harvest, bacteria grew and caused them to hallucinate.
It makes complete sense because they lasted almost exactly the exact same cycle as the new harvest would. Almost a year. Thats EXACTLY what happened and people think im crazy when i say "they had poison wheat" because nobody else heard about that part.

She also taught me about a man who willingly went to a concentration camp and escaped to prove they exist. She taught me a lot actually.. like Rome fell when men started sleeping with men, obsessing over gender, and eating tons of food and using feathers to make themselves throw up to eat more right before it fell.. and this was almost 20 years ago and now look at America!
