The ending to Snake Eater truly took me by surprise. MGS and MGS2 had emotional open ended endings, and they were wonderful (I'll admit MGS2 was a little cheesy), but Snake Eater gave you something solid (no pun intended) to sink your teeth in to. Kojima played the strings really well with the gamer here, but in a natural way. Taking the bad guy and turning her in to a hero and at the same time seeing the character of Big Boss finally unfold. You felt for the character of Big Boss and you understood exactly what was happening. If you were a Metal Gear fan this was a wonderful thing to see, but at the same time very heartbreaking. The character of Big Boss would later become misunderstood within the game world of MGS, just as was the plan to setup The Boss. Pawns as they say.

While MGS2 is my personal favorite in the series to play, MGS3 has my favorite story of them all. The music in this game took the world of Metal Gear to a whole new level. Harry Gregson-Williams really took it to a new dimension here. The tracks had much more substance and you can tell the production quality went through the roof from MGS2 to MGS3. This song, however, took me by surprise as I really didn't expect HGW (Harry Gregson-Willams) to compose something so heartfelt. The song fit so perfectly with everything that was going on in this scene. When Big Boss walked in to the Oval Office.. damn, and that salute... the feelings were real here.
