Preparing California for Census 2020

The 2020 Census is fast approaching. With political representation and billions in federal funds on the line, the importance of an accurate count cannot be overstated. PPIC’s Mark Baldassare talks with California secretary of state Alex Padilla about what’s at stake and how his office is preparing. Then, Karthick Ramakrishnan—founding director of the Center for Social Innovation at the University of California, Riverside—moderates a panel discussion involving California assemblymember Marc Berman; Sarah Bohn, PPIC’s director of research; Ditas Katague, director of California Complete Count; and Melina Sanchez from the James Irvine Foundation.
