coming back here to say, lip j is objectively better, but rozalin was definitely more captivating and appealed more to the judges, which i think is a big part of who is the winner, who can impress the judges and who can steal the spotlight

yes, lip j was a better dancer in this, but rozalin still deserved the win. in dance battles, the most important part of it is to stand out and captivate the judges. rozalin had more energy and knew how to drag the attention to her, that's why she won. lip j would've won (she's an amazing waacker), but she was too focused on basics and stuff the mentors had already seen/expected from her.

People who say Rozalin is better is like people who see amateur piano players play Flight of a Bumblebee decently and say it’s the best shit that has come to piano.

Her waacking is just okay (she herself said she hasnt practiced it much after she went on a hiatus before). But waackers going off rhythm is especially criminal.

Rozalin’s real specialty is Voguing and its somehow not highlighted in SWF.

Came back here because I suddenly feel like it. Lip J still won. Not by comparison because it's IMPOSSIBLE to compare them with a different music and tempo. She won because she showed authentic waacking more than any techniques and used the song to create DRAMA which is another element of waacking. Rozalin lacked that in her dance and just plainly waack to the beat. The judges said she was being "confrontational" and took it against her, but they failed to see that the confrontation itself was the main drama of the song. Like HOW else would you dance to "Magic bird of fire"? Before this show, Lip J has danced this song twice- one being a judge showcase, and the other one during Old School Night in Japan. She moved differently, but on this particular section of the song she was giving a confrontational vibe on both events.

If you don't waack, you will NEVER appreciate this dance and see it only as "repetitive" arm swinging. The creation of waacking was MAINLY based on expression and soul. There wasn't much technique when Tyrone the father of waacking was doing Soul Train. Technique was introduced later on in 2004 when they finally thought of spreading the culture of the dance.

In summary, Lip J had BOTH the musical vibe and techniques, while Rozalin only showed techniques which is flawed in comparison to Lip J's. So the latter won.

Lip j is a legend when it comes to waacking but can y’all accept the fact that rozalin was so captivating here the dance battle isn’t always about the technique, but it’s also about how impactful you were, lip j let drama overwhelm her but again this is still one of the best battles to come from the show

Lip J wacking is flawless as always if i'm not mistaken she had a wacking crew which Rozalin was also in. Lip J was better of course, Rozalin did well but i think her specialities is Elegant dancing( I don't know a good name for it) and Voguing.
