These antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria don't come from no where. This is largely due to animal agriculture, around 80 percent of antibiotics used in the USA are for animals in livestock.

one of the reasons why more research into bacteriophages would be useful. if im not mistaken, they have been used in the soviet union to treat antibiotic resistant infections with moderate to high success rates and negligible side effects compared to the very agressive antibiotics normally used to treat resistant bacteria.
