First off I came from a home where my mom would guilt trip me into letting her read my diary. It's honestly probably one of the reasons I don't write in it anymore despite having moved out. It's NOT okay, it destroys what little relationship a parent can have with their child, it humiliates and hurts the child to be put on the spot. Children are allowed their privacy, it doesn't matter if they write bad stuff or complain about their parents. Hell mine deserved every word I wrote but when a parent does this to their child it just makes them feel demeaned, that they're not a person and then their parent wonders why their child needs therapy later.

Sorry for the rant, this just kinda triggered me.

I know how you feel. My grandmother read my diary when I wasn't looking, and when she admitted to me that she was snooping around and reading my diary, I can't remember exactly what she said but the way she said it, she said it like I should stop writing 'bad things' and them guys in the diary. But I wasn't writing any bad stuff about them much. I'm telling the truth, my grandmother takes everything the wrong way, but everything is going okay.
