Java in a World of Containers
Abstract:
Container technologies such as Docker are rapidly becoming the de-facto way to deploy cloud applications, and Java is committed to being a good container citizen. This talk will cover some of the new the tools and techniques for reducing container size, for improving startup time and sharing of data between containerized JVMs, and the recent work that has gone into interacting with container resource limitations.
Speaker: Matthew Gilliard
Matthew is a (somewhat) functional programmer who enjoys all kinds of language nerdery. He currently works at Oracle on the Fn Project, an open-source serverless compute platform. Helping to make Java in the cloud as good as it can be. Past lives include OpenStacking, teaching English to highschoolers and a whole lot of Clojure and Java.
