I think it's about her starting her career as a professional touring musician? That little bit about losing her singing voice sounds like it's a reference to her own life. Wikipedia is the only source I have... but it says she sang so much as a teen that she overexerted herself and had to undergo silence treatment, and emerged from it with her distinctive low-pitched voice. Makes me think of the Japanese artform of kintsugi.
