Build as Priced for $800:

Optional Parts

Intel is, on a per core, per clock basis, faster than AMD Ryzen. That being said, from a dollar per unit of performance, Ryzen is a better deal and for most people, a Ryzen 5 2600 (or 2600X) is a better choice.

Tech Deals is the type of guy who claps after the plane lands.

One of the few channels that I respect because its not only about the information but how this channel lays it out. Its not over the top with music and special effects with a long boring intro and annoying music in the background. Nothing wrong with those channels but I just feel that this channel has a clean yet still professional and informative way about it, which I find pleasing. Great host great channel thank you for the information and the entertainment.

Honest opinions and detail information. Easy to follow. Unlike other sites that just concentrate on only high end system components

This might be a perfect build for a game called Escape from Tarkov.

It runs on an older version of Unity engine which limits it mostly to a single core and the method of storing a ton of meshes for customization with weapons/gear saps a lot of RAM requiring 10-12GB minimum.

Can't wait to see the rest of this build series!

I'd hope the the overclocked i3 8350K would beat a i7-2600k with a 7 year release difference! You would think it would be a larger jump. 7 Years is a LOOOONNNGG Time!

Here is a deals tip. The CostCo Executive membership VISA from Citi offers two niceties. First, it extends the warranties of items by two years. Secondly, it provides 60 days of “price rewind” price protection. Another tip: Micro Center. Great people, helpful, and you can walk out of the store with everything you need for a build at very competitive prices. Definitely worth visiting just to look around.

23:00 Intel clock speed is rarely explained so clearly especially recently on Youtube. Many comments on gaming videos I read flippantly state "Nah mate, Ryzen 2600 is the better chip over an older gen Intel" with no context. None of the games I play (basically part 4 by the sound of it) struggle on a 6600k (4c/4t) so me 'upgrading' to Ryzen for the sake of 'more threads' in 90% of my PC use cases specifically would be a downgrade. More £s to be on Ryzen in order to get more cores I won't use at a performance cost in game due to a much lower IPC and core freq. is to me simply a 'worse' computer. AMD is not an option for me, it makes no sense. For the 10% of multi threaded tasks I might do I'll boil the kettle in the meantime for the extra 30 seconds that job might take. For a new person reading that "opinionated fact" might take that Ryzen IS better because its deemed newer and got more threads thus better. That's why I'm loving this particular series someone like me might watch it and realise everyone else's "worse" option is actually my best.
Secondly a 4790k at stock using DDR3, then buying a decent cooler and overclocking would seem to give a possibly better gaming experience to this DDR4 more expensive build for a user like me; the only cost seemingly being slightly lower FPS due to the further drop in mhz from DDR4 to DDR3. Really interesting and supports my recent findings. I've built and sold 2x 2500k, a 2600k and an i5-3570 (non-k) rig (1080p/GTX970/GTX1060 gaming PCs) in the last month. I spent a night on each to test the OC's were stable and was blown away by the performance I got from them still in 2018. The smiles I got when I demo'd them also said it all. Bring on pt 4!

Love this chip. runs 4.5 on stock voltage and doesn't get about 56c on an Evo 212. Came here to see what more i could squeeze out of it and how. I play stellaris and even Forged Alliance Forever and most those games run on mostly one thread, as do many, making this card a great option for the price.

Thanks for all the warnings and instructions- The 'good thing' about learning to overclock an i3 is that it's isn't a huge loss compared to wrecking say an 8700k.
Got to learn somewhere as videos can only take you so far before you have to 'get yer hands dirty'.
