This video describes what diabetes is, the differences between type 1 and type 2 diabetes, possible complications, and ways to manage the disease.

Diabetes is a disease that occurs when your blood glucose, also called blood sugar, is too high. Over time, having too much glucose in your blood can cause health problems, such as heart disease, nerve damage, eye problems, and kidney disease. You can take steps to prevent diabetes or manage it.

Transcript:

Diabetes is a disease that occurs when the amount of glucose, or blood sugar, gets too high.

This is glucose, the main source of our body’s energy which comes mostly from the food we eat.

Normally, insulin, a hormone made by the pancreas, helps glucose from our food get into our cells to be used for energy.

But what happens if we can’t produce enough insulin – or we produce none at all?

Let’s take a look at the pancreas, where insulin is made.

With type 1 diabetes, our body’s immune system destroys the cells in our pancreas.

This means our body can no longer make insulin and we need to take it daily to live.

In type 2 diabetes, either our body doesn’t use insulin well or the pancreas makes some
insulin but not enough to carry sufficient glucose into our cells.

Either way, we need to make up the difference by taking insulin or other diabetes medications
to control our blood sugar.

With either type of diabetes, glucose levels in our blood can get too high, which can lead
to health problems, including heart, kidney, nerve, and eye diseases.

Though diabetes is serious, it can be managed so it’s less likely to cause health problems.

For people with diabetes, check your average blood glucose level with an A1C test to determine
whether that level is within your target range to reduce health problems.

We also need to take our prescribed diabetes medicines, make healthy food and activity
choices, manage our blood pressure and cholesterol, and quit smoking to help us live healthier lives.

Nice video, I bought Ambrosia Nightrider cgm to monitor glucose which works great with my Libre sensor, their alarm feature is very helpful during night, it gives alerts when readings are not in range.

Diabetes also matches the description of a bacteria found in contaminated drinking water. The reason the sugar or insulin would not get distributed correctly or used up by the body correctly is because the bacteria loves sugar and is using the sugar and other nutrients however it wants to within the body to survive. This also causes weight gain or weight loss depending on each individual because the H Pylori also changes the metabolism. H Pylori causes stress on the body and that can cause high blood pressure. H Pylori can also affect the heart and kidneys and also lungs if a person were a smoker. Also a person would have to exercise more to reduce the H Pylori problems in the gut as well as further possible weight gain because their Metabolism has changed in some cases just like a diabetic. And just like a diabetic they are likey to get infections but depending on how much H Pylori entered the body some will progress more than others and some may show no symptoms for many years while the illness is there. Antibiotics and antifungal medicines and medicines that protect the stomach help treat and cure H Pylori. Anyone who has diabetes should get a blood test or other test for H Pylori or ask if there will be an at home test available. It is probably best not to mention anything about diabetes while getting the H Pylori test done from a separate doctor.

Well described, thanks for explaining 'both versions' of the diabetes. Great cartoons the man was just staring at that woman on the sofa like he could just eat her! She was just sat their hiding behind her Sandwiches! Great touch, funny. Hay! It's a 'Corona virus LOCK DOWN' in April 2020, these 'tiny details' amuse me! Thank you for a great explanatory posting!
