An elderly Oahu woman with COVID-19 has died, authorities announced Friday, bringing the death toll from the virus in Hawaii to 19.

The state Health Department said the patient ― whose age was not released ― had been hospitalized for “quite a while” with multiple underlying health conditions, state Health Director Bruce Anderson said.

The news comes as Hawaii continues to see worrying double-digit increases in new infections.

On Friday, the state reported 29 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the statewide total for cases to 975 and triggered concern among state health officials. It’s the highest single-day surge since April 4.

The last coronavirus-related death in Hawaii, meanwhile, was reported June 26.

Civil defense and other public address system should keep people informed on how to use PPE like Mask and Washing hands. What kind of materials we can use at home for masks from homemade DIY projects. Where to buy masks and hand stanitizers and other PPE stores around the island? people always need to be informed on these items all the time.
