The Andrew Lawton Show: Negotiating for Nothing

Justin Trudeau's government has reached a deal with the hereditary chiefs who oppose the Coastal GasLink pipeline – except the deal has nothing to do with the pipeline, and the chiefs haven't even agreed to it yet. This has been nothing but a stalling tactic by the protesters, True North's Andrew Lawton says.

Also on the show: Brampton wants an Indigenous land acknowledgement at every city-owned facility, and Concordia University dietary researcher Prof. Sylvia Santosa joins to discuss why we should view obesity as a disease and not a choice.

I am a veteran of the Canadian Forces. Just glad to have people like Andrew Lawton speaking the truth. Cheers. Let's get that kid out.

You cannot negotiate with activists, you give an inch they take a mile and then move the goalposts. Nothing is ever enough.

I think all the people who love doing land acknowlegements should donate their land to the nearest tribe.

Up above, in R&R heaven, Gord Downie is looking down, shaking his head and wondering how he could be so wrong depending on Trudeau to look after indigenous problems !

Trudeau reminds me of a really bad basketball player who is put into the game because his Daddy has connections with the coach. He is bad for the game and the team keeps losing because of him. On the sideline is the player that will turn it all around in Canadians favour. Trudeau needs to leave the game and Guess who do you think needs to manage Canada. Hint: ?

Last quarter the Canadian economy "grew" at .3%. First quarter will be near negative growth. Definitely a recession in second quarter.
No business activity. No investment. Canadian gov't is incompetent. Closed for business. Bad country for business. No foreign investment because Canada is too risky.

The Native issue is one that is self perpetuating, it has gotten worse and is getting bigger. So when do we get to the point that never ending handouts and capitulation is perceived as some sort of solution? We are all in this thing together, something has to give!
