Edible gold paint without alcohol 🤔

I use alcohol free lemon extract. Here in the UK you can get it in Asda etc.

I've always been curious! Everyone keeps mentioning all sorts of alcohol (although it evaporates, it's best to not go near it at all) and lemon EXTRACT. Thank you for testing it with lemon juice and water!

I wonder if i could use this on royal icing cookies? I'm too lazy to pipe a bunch of details sometimes lol so what i often do is just slightly thin out pipeable royal icing and dip a bunch of plain shortbread cookies in. Then i can decorate the top however i want with edible markers or sprinkles. After it hardens, it looks PERFECT and smooth and it's a GREAT canvas for some artwork. (and tastes WAAAY better than fondant. Sugar cookies with fondant have been wasted several times from what i remember in previous parties and occasions.) This seems like it could be good to draw moons/stars/ lanterns on top! Might do the lemon juice one.

I have tried with lemon and water and it just doesn't paint the same. I'll have to try the oil.

I buy gold cake paint. It works great.
