Modern jeans are made based on the pattern for size 0, which usually has very little curves. After that they just scale it up, without considering how the fat tissue distributes the bigger the person gets. That's why all, say EU 42 or 44 jeans will have huge waists but at the same time you won't be able to squeeze your thighs in them. They're just rectangular pieces of fabric.

you know what is great about vintage jeans though? no stretch! The stretch they put in jeans now makes them fall apart in a year. The reason why those 70's jeans are there for you to look great in is because they were built to last!
