Logano on spring contact with Byron: 'You don't want to mess with me'

Joey Logano doubled down on possible retaliation from William Byron when asked Saturday if their spring contact at Darlington is behind them.

I’m def not a J Logano fan at all, but he did get used up and pushed around a lot early in his career. Obviously he still remembers and think about those days regardless if he’s purposely being pushed around or not. He’s definitely done his share of pushing too. I think Byron is still pissed.

If you follow nascar in the beginning of his career Stewart, newsome and a few others were always punking out he was 18yrs old and learn the hard way. Now and for awhile he's been a good racer and isn't going to take shit from anyone like him or not and he's not my favorite driver he's damn good and will rub bumpers with the best of them.

I was biggest nascar fan ever since early 70's. Got fed up with the change a few years ago. So this past Sunday I said ok I'm gonna tune in to the darlington race to try again. After bout 30 laps I cut it off!! Crews can't get innovative anymore. Everything is identical pretty much. Some short track racing still descent but all in all it sucks nowadays

Logano sounds worried. It's self inflicted. Maybe he should not have massively escalated after incidental contact and it was already clear his car was just fine and noticeably faster. If Byron is going to retaliate, it's probably better to wait. In fact, if he gets the chance, maybe he should just mess with him for now and make him worry more or even make a mistake. With it being the first race of the playoffs, if Byron hurts Logano's finish at Darlington, Logano still might be able to win in one of the remaining races. If Logano doesn't win by the cut-off race, then the retaliation there is going to hurt a lot more. Then Byron can say "don't mess with me" and Logano will have to listen because that's apparently how he thinks things work.
