You missed THIS in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The 1959 Ford Galaxie that the Manson family drives in the movie is a replica, but it almost wasn’t. The real car used by the Manson family on the night of the Tate LaBianca murders still exists, and the owner even offered it to be used in the film. The film’s director, Quentin Tarantino, thought that this was too creepy even for him though and refused.

He might’ve destroyed it like that Martin guitar in the hateful eight

I agree with Tarantino on this. He does crazy things to get authenticity in his films but using the exact car glorifies the killers too much.

You’re right! I totally missed that car they didn’t use in the movie.

That is really hard to believe that anything is too creepy for Tarantino

Not to mention Tarantino didn’t want another priceless artefact getting smeshed on his set after the incident with the guitar in hateful 8

I’m glad Quintin turned that down. It was a horrible murder..

Too many ghosts in the closet to use the actual car.

Nah. He just didn’t want a repeat of the Hateful Eight business. With the guitar.

It’s actually in the movie if you look closely. I know everyone says it’s not even the guy that bought all the cars for the movie, but he says they had the original and a replica. So in the ranch scene you can see both cars in the background. There on different sides when the camera switches from Brad to the other characters you see both cars.

That’s saying a lot since this guy had such a devotion to making the strangling scene in Inglorious Basterds realistic, that he actually did it himself. That’s Tarantino’s hands in that scene, not Christoph Waltz’s.

If they ended up using the original car I'm sure it would have increased the insurance premium. More importantly I doubt they would be allowed to do any restoration so it would have to look just as beat as it is today.

That's kinda surprising, considering that Mr. Tarantino himself is kinda creepy.

He also didnt want to force his actors to sit in a car where an innocent kid was murded

So, we didn’t miss anything because it wasn’t even in the movie. Gotcha.

You missed this, when Rick Dalton calls it a Mechanical Asshole, it's a reference to Christine the killer automobile from the John Carpenter movie.
