Special Guest TEACHING me HOW TO troll for HALIBUT

In this video Captain Steve from @DeadliestKastFishing joins me on the San Francisco Bay in search of halibut. Steve has fished these waters professionally as a captain of his own boat for many years. We opted not to use live bait, instead I wanted to try Steve's custom made halibut rigs so that meant we needed to troll. It was a slow bite, we tried many spots in the San Francisco Bay. We finally landed a nice one at the end of the day. Once we get into April and there are more fish around I am sure this trolling rig will light them up. In the meantime it was great to just get one.

Hey Chris, I fish for salmon out of Monterey Bay, if you ever want to plan a trip down here I'd be more than happy to take you out on our boat, or yours. Thanks for all the great videos!

1 lb Bounce ball rig with a flasher to a hoochie to a bait with a trap hook rubber banneded near tail. Plus lots of fuel and a down payment on a muerta guage. Fiya bun commercial adds and fishing.

1 lb weight surprises me. Even in the shallower parts of the Bay I have a tough time staying on bottom with that little weight. Maybe my preferred dodger (Jensen 3/0 brass chrome) is pulling my line out more..?

Good work Chris. Keep the videos coming. You going to be in Monterey for Salmon opener?

Pretty different from fishing up here in AK, often trolling for salmon 90-150 feet down and big halibut 400+ feet. Looks fun
