I met them over ten years ago, asking for tickets to a small sold out venue in Phoenix. I had no money, no tickets, just showed up because I loved them. Went around back asking to get in and asked JOSH of all people, I was like, wait.. dont I know you?? He said, well I’m 1/2 of the band phantogram. And he put me and my friend on the guest list. I fucking cried. I love them so so so much. Their music was along for the RIDE OF MY LIFE (I’d call it that at the time) I had their autographs but that was lost to time.
I love you phantogram ✨💕😿🤟

It'll be two years, no alcohol this December. This is my official JAM!!! Happy I found now that I've found sobriety 🙌🏾

I was taking a shower and this song randomly came back in my head after 4 years, and I am so glad I recovered this core memory

When I'm Small / Phantogram
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Lucy's underground
She's got a mouth to feed
Am I underground
Or am I in between

Lucy's underground
She's got a mouth to feed
Am I underground
Or am I in too deep

Show me love
You've got your hand on the button now
Showin' love
You've got your hand on the button now

Oh, oh, oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh

Lucy's underground,
She's never comin' back
Am I still alive
Or has the light gone black

Take me underground
Take me all the way
Bring me to the fire
Throw me in the flame

So, show me love
You've got your hands on the button now
Showin' love
You've got your hand on the button now

I'd rather die,
I'd rather die,
Than to be with you

Oh, oh, oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh, oh, (than to be with you)
Oh, oh, oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh, oh (I'd rather die)
Oh, oh, oh, oh

My sons mom chose drugs and alcohol over him. I overdosed and almost lost my life in 2017. When she says “Lucy’s underground she’s got a mouth to feed. Lucy’s underground she’s never coming backkk”, it gives me the chills starting from my spine. I chose to face my demons and here I am 6 years sober from hard drugs. I started listening to this song in the beginning of it all. It brings me back to a moment of uncertainty and I was so scared to do this on my own. Now my son and I are living a beautiful life with love, pain, joy, and all the other emotions that life rotates for us. He is my beautiful boy that gave me a life worth fighting for. All the love, all the power.

that line when she says "show me love" something intangible and esoteric about it truly an awesome band

She is a legit cool human. Talked to me for like a half hour after their set in StL, we talked poets and about failed parents. She is legit. I feel for the loss of her sister.

2010 was a helluva year in music. Just a few arists with great albums that year: Phantogram, Sufjan Stevens, Arcade Fire, LCD Soundsystem, The National, Janelle Monet, Vampire Weekend, Beach House, Gorillaz, Deerhunter, The Black Keys, Yeahsayer, Tame Impala, MGMT, Deftones, Spoon, Foals, Crystal Castles...

That bassline will always be outrageously good

Obviously a very emotional experience for Ms. Barthel, the tears in her eyes at the end of the track are testament to the power of the music, as well as the words.
Fantastic piece of song writing.

I was 18 when I heard this song. I was folding jeans for the 50th time that day at Levi’s and I literally stopped working and listened to this song. Took me a month to find it and 10 years later, I still listen to this song on the daily

ive worked 100's of concerts, but i still get chills thinking of how cool it looked when the music hit with her 8ft on riser and his silhouette. I was already a fan, but them live, omg.

She is just perfect. The way she moves, the way she is dressed, her voice, she is beautiful. Perfect.

The song is actually about leaving an abusive relationship. Everybody is watching her and her 'crazy outbursts' hence the lights and the cameras. Once she says: 'I'd rather die than be with you' I feel tears welling up in my eyes even after the 789th time of listening to it. It hits home.

This song was on repeat when I left my abusive baby daddy. 11 years later my son and I are doing better than I could’ve ever imagined. If anyone reading this thinks they can’t get away you can.

I remember when this album dropped. 16 years old and im 30 now. This was such an era for underground music and this album still holds up so well.

This song should give all guitarists hope. Dude is playing like two notes through a Gen Loss pedal...
