In this video, I am comparing the trusty Sony ZV-E1 to the new Lumix S9, as both of these cameras are the brands respective full frame compact vlog cameras. Although the Lumix S9 is $700 cheaper, how well does it stack up against the Sony ZV-E1? Lets find out

s9 full frame, twice pixels, better stabilization... enough to be better of sony already

Both are great for what they're intended for, but people were overexpecting from the eyes of the target audience that these cameras are aimed for.

The S9 feature with LUT system is interesting because both videos and photos can look similar. Love it, but gotta say, I wish Panasonic had provided a full featured camera in that form factor and charged a higher price.

AF performance is better in Sony. It is obvious already.
BUT the current lines of Lumix S cameras focuses much better than even Fujifilm's flagship non-medium lines, and Lumix's firmware update ACTUALLY improves AF performance unlike Fujifilm.

Also with that S9 pricing, it can be Panasonic's most important camera to date, as it can lead more people into the full-frame territory, at a price of a top-line APS-C cameras out there.

I own both I love the 24mp pics and 6k video better. Plus the Panasonic LCD is better than the Sony. I did apply the firmware update version 1.2 for the S9 which removed the video record time limits but I get an extra minutes. I also have the Smallrig Grip and Panasonic Wrist Strap for the S9. ZV-E1 has extra ports and features is why it is more expensive. Cheers!

Concerning those IBIS-induced corner wobbles on the S9 - e-stab on standard should correct those. Not sure if that works in anamorphic though.

Dollar for Dollar that 12mp sensor in the Sony ZV-E1, Sony A7Siii and Sony FX3 STILL REIGNS SUPREME for video. I don't think Sony can even compete with themselves to come up with a movie camera sensor that is better. Those three cameras are so good I see no need to even consider the FX6 or FX9. And believe it or not, some of these dudes are saying they'd rather have a couple FX3s than an ARRI! The entire film THE CREATOR was all shot on the Sony FX3 and it was incredible enough to be shown in IMAX. In very low light (like moon light) the full frame quality of that sensor is absolutely beautiful - especially if you set your iso right. No one can convince me otherwise - The deal you are getting for full frame video with the Sony ZV-E1 is the best (especially if you add that Tilta fan cage). I couldn't possibly fathom choosing that S9 over the ZV-E1. The ZV-E1 is well worth it, the only obstacle is adding the tilta fan cage and keeping it cool for the extended run times.

I have a Panasonic S5IIX. I borrowed the Panasonic S9 to test. It's annoying to see the compromises you have to accept. But I have to say the fun factor is high. The size and weight are good and this new app works fantastically and easily with my iPhone. This LUT department is not to be underestimated and speeds up the work process a lot. I bet you'll upload a lot more pictures to social media because it's so quick. Take a picture with the right LUT, quickly on the iPhone via Bluetooth, color grade, social media = 1 minute 😀

Already have a Sony, tired of that slow ass workflow. Lumix S9 for me!

1.5 x crop on 4/60 and low max recording times kill the S9. ZVE1 is actually a ‘bargain’ for what you get. If shooting in 4/60 the ZVE1 has less crop on it in dynamic than the S9 does with its stabilisation due to ridiculous friken 1.5 crop on that S9 60FPS. That clear image zoom as you say is underrated.
