Wrong!!! This has never worked for me so maybe a configuration issue but on my iphone 16 you - Tap your user (apple id) in Settings, then Family, then Location Sharing. Now you see the link "Find My" and THAT is how to open the map, and find the Items tab.

I CANT LOCATE MY MAC WITH MY IPHONE 15 PRO??? WHY??? This is all useless - option as unaviliable (all settings on mac working other way round)
