Wow, that makes what I have been building for the past 4.5 years seem kind of basic or simple. Of course, if I go back 5 years, I didn’t even know what an m2 screw was or a one-cell battery. I love it all and you Ian have just broadened my knowledge base. Thank you😊

I love the form factor of the quad and had considered the Holybro kit for a while.. I then deciided on making my own designed frame ftom scratch and with elelments of this one. Less screws and less parts to assemble. In the end I went with a smaller form factor and used 9045 DJi stylpe props. It was just what it needed and after another decsion chioce when Librepilot was not in develoment, I went for a Betaflight ESC and FC enabled controller. After alot of PID tuning it now seems to fly pretty well and snappy for it's size! I have angle mode set as standard and Acro as an option but for now sticking with Angle mode. I like the idea of using Ardupilot with all of it's plethora of possiblites for mission panning, way points and so on. But happy that I achieved a simple soltution to make a larger quad work. Nice video and digging the rock and roll style!

Thanks for your video. The x500 v2 is no longer in the Qground menu for generic quad (s500 still there). Can you give a second recommendation.

what would be an alternate flight controller for this ? I dont want to use pix hawk, i have expresslrs an maybe this would make a good long range drone . And q ground control? Is this easier than mission planner ?

I'm planning to buy 2 of QAV250 with the Pix32v6 (without RC) and i want to learn/train how to do a simple swarm fly with it
1- Can i do it with QGC or i need the Ardupilot firmware with Mission planner ?

2- are there any recommended RGB LEDs for this drone?

Hello Mads, I watched this video today maybe for the 4th time. Many thanks for the valuable information that you provide. I am really waiting for the video that you promised us on how to connect this drone to the RTK system. Also, in this video itself. I feel very disconnected and there are too much information that we missed between finishing the configuration and flying the drone in the video. I and we all will appreciate it if you could deep dive into the details after the configuration, for example how to set the telemetry radio, the video transmission if any, how to set and monitor the drone state in QGround, and so on. Again your videos are always useful no matter what you provided and I hope we continue learning from you.

I need help for my first build. Actually my 13 year old son (plus me helping - not sure if a smaller drone kit is more suitable, but this looks great, also for us it has been very difficult to get started with building our own drone, so instead we've bought a few mini djis). Has the link to buy this drone been posted? Can someone provide a link, for delivery to the UK. Also how easy is it to attach a camera? Is this drone useful to practice programming with?

Thanks Ian for making this video. I'd recently been looking into Holybro products as an alternative to CubePilot. And this kit is an interesting alternative to the Hexsoon EDU-450. (I've built 3)

I'd really like to build two of these - the Development Kit version for an opportunity to get my hands on a Pixhawk FC running PX4. And frame kit that I can engineer with my own motors and electronics.

On the kit as you've built it, I'm really curious about compass calibration given the long untwisted DC power lines. The placement of the GPS your video shows may be enough separation to take care of that.

I'm also curious about some of the details. For example, with BLHeliS ESC's, is it running DSHOT? I'm also curious if the instructions are detailed enough to tell which of the I/O connectors to use - as it would matter if DSHOT is being used.

Can you explain how flight controller is fixed on top plate? In X500 V2 kit I have only double sided sticky tape packed with it. Though plate and controller has 4 M2.5 screw holes as well. Are tape is enough to hold flight controller in place? BTW battery wires around voltage converter module are little too short.

great video thanks but can you tell me please, is pixhawk the reserve of the big quads or could you use the smaller f.c.'s like matek or mamba stacks on s500, x500 nobody can seem to tell me ?.
