I don’t have kids and probably won’t but I do have a masters in Early childhood and years of experience. That sister in law was wrong. Babies do feel and things they go through can have lasting effects on them. It’s good for children to have a schedule and learn how to have quiet time and play/be able to be by themselves.

There is nothing wrong with having quite time or nap time with kids.they need time to chill as much as mom and dad does. And as for the nut case who thinks she knows about kids not feeling anything .If that was the case why does even the youngest babies react to pain by pulling away? And as you said crying is there only way of letting us know that something is wrong. It would be a cold day in hell before she looked after my child.
