Leon Trotsky is a name you probably recognize. He was a man that dedicated his life to the Communist revolution, leading the Red Army to victory during the Russian Civil War and being Lenin’s designated successor. It didn’t pan out that way, however, and he was forced out by Joseph Stalin through behind-the-scenes power plays and intrigues. Today we’ll look into the life of Lev Davidovich Bronstein, better known as Leon Trotsky.

The content of this video covers events, people or concepts via a lecture-style presentation that is educational and historical in nature. Every video is original content by House of History. Time-stamps are in the description. About what historical figure would you like to see an in-depth biography such as this one?

Trotsky's life is as complicated as it is important in the history of the twentieth century. It's impressive how well these are explained here in 35 minutes.
Thank you!

One thing I am always puzzled, or bewildered by, is how Trotsky has staid in jails and exiles so often and yet was lucky not to have his health destroyed as happens so often. He does not look like he was a particularly strong man physically, so either he had a very good immune system or just very lucky.

You did a fantastic job. Many documentaries are thinly veiled propaganda for or against communism. This is a straightforward and accurate viewpoint. Well done!

Damn, a 35 minutes episode? I can't imagine how long you've spent on research for this episode. Anyway, got my evening set with it.

Quite good video. Pronunciation is very good for a foreigner although lacking some key details it is far better than what is reasonably expected!

I've been enjoying your very professional, academically rigorous videos; and I'm sure sooner or later I will watch them all 🙂
However, I want to thank you especially for the documentaries you have made of the less 'mainstream' topics, such as the 30 Years War, the Seven Years War, and so on, which are not often documented by independent documentary-makers.

Thanks heaps - when I can afford to, I will join your Patreon!
