Popeyes vs. Chick-fil-A: Real experts pick the best sandwich

Popeyes and Chick-fil-A are battling it out in the court of public opinion. Who makes the better fried chicken sandwich? We let a bunch of chefs from Syracuse University be the judge.

After having a few popeyes spicy chicken sandwiches. Than eating a chik-fil-a spicy chicken sandwich. I was amazed on how much i rather have popeyes. I used to eat chik-fil-a sandwiches all the time but popeyes is just better. Better chicken, better bread and better flavor, just better. I've always thought popeyes had the best chicken compared to their competitors. You guys say it's all "hype" but for me, it isn't. It's actually really good.

Having them sit together makes the whole experiment unreliable. The first person says Popeyes. Everyone else will agree. If she said chick fill a, there would have been more chick fill a. The power of group influence is real. Not saying they're wrong. It just doesn't hold up as a reliable test.

Chic fil-A has a very loyal fan base with many that have a bias in their opinions of these two sandwiches. Remove their opinions from the national survey and it's clear Popeyes has the superior sandwich. Let's move on to see how McDonald's new sandwich compares to these two.

There are so many things wrong with this test. You should never have test participants listening to what the other participants are saying. That can heavily influence their opinions.

The Popeye’s sandwich was good, but it wasn’t fantastic. It was pretty much a more greasy version of the Chick-fil-A sandwich

The thing with Popeyes is that it's not consistent. One day it might be good and the next day it might feel like you're eating a rubber dog toy. I'd like to see them do a test of 10 Popeyes sandwiches on 10 different days and 10 different locations and tell me it's better than Chick Fil A as we all know is consistent in their food.

Cup that with the overall experience of chick fil a, (the service, cleanliness of the restaurant, sauces, fries, etc) they win in a land slide. The last time, (and will be the last time), I went to Popeyes, I waited 10 minutes for my sandwich, there wasn't one clean table to sit at, they were out of ketchup and lemonade, and when I first bit into the sandwich I thought it was undercooked.. I didn't even finish it. Inconsistent!

I love the Popeyes sandwich but I personally like the combination of the chicfila sauce and waffle fries more than the superior breading and crust

The problem I've found is in real life. Every store(4x so far).. At every popeyes I visited I've yet to get a fresh chicken sandwich. Some had hard buns an cold chicken. The skin had turned soft with white spots. They always have, 20-50 premade sandwiches sitting in their heater.

Plus popeyes isn't as well run as chic- fil-a..with some stores being unclean and employees are not as well trained or customer friendly as chic-fil-a..
The upside with popeyes... the price, $3.99👍🏾... An, sometimes a bigger piece of chicken👍🏾.. than chic-fil-a...that is if you can get a fresh chicken sandwich.

Bottom line for me.. Overall I'm going to say chic-fil-a has the best sandwich, (consistently warm and fresh all the time). It may cost a little more but in my opinion it's worth the investment. An they, hands down, have way cleaner stores and are a better run organization overall.. with better trained employees, overall... Dining wise, a better experience. All this of course.. is my opinion based on my own personal experience..

Almost everyone of those who compared Chick-Fil-A to Popeyes mention that Popeyes is better because, 1. Bigger, more crunchy chicken, 2. Has mayo and 3. Has everything you else like lettuce, tomato and pickles. They are right in that Popeyes sandwich is better. I loved it the first time I ate the sandwich.

What they don’t tell you is 1. The quality of how the sandwiches from both restaurants varies depending on location. My first Popeyes Chicken sandwich came in looking like to was smashed. I’m sure if I go to another Popeyes location, it would look more quality (and it has). Every Chick-Fil-A sandwich I went to are quality made. Finally, 2. You can put various types of sauces on the Chick-Fil-A by yourself INCLUDING mayo. None of those who tasted the Chick-Fil-A sandwich did not mention any sauce, nor is there any evidence of it in their sandwich, and if you care about healthier eating, 3. Less breading on the chicken and from the bun is healthier. Because there is no mayo and butter, it is your option to leave it as is without any sauce. That makes it less calories, fat, and carbohydrates

To me, most taste tests aren’t fair to begin with and flawed.

Chik fil a will always be a contender due to brand loyalty. It's all about what companies stand for and product not just product alone. Popeyes is the bomb on Sundays!!

It needed to be a double blind test. Anyway, one of the idiots says it has mayonnaise on it. That's why it's better. Put mayonnaise on anything you want put whatever toppings you want on it. Just put the toppings the same toppings on each sandwich. That was stupid. To make a decision because of that is moronic.

I like the Popeye's Chicken sandwich because it's got mayonnaise on it it's not dry like the Chick-fil-A sandwich... Then put mayonnaise on the Chick-fil-A sandwich?? Just blown your mind!!

I still prefer Chick-fil-a sandwich over Popeyes. The Popeyes one is good but not the best chicken sandwich I've ever had or anything. The one I had was on the greasy side.
