For the question c of the xercie 5, isn't it more straight forward to notice that, since G/N is abelian, for every a, b in G, we have abN = baN, so b^1a^1ab is in N, and so every combination of all of the elements of the form [a, b] is in N (because N is a subgroup), so we have G' <N?
