This hour-long, ten episode series is based on the popular New York Times bestselling book series collectively known as The Expanse, written by Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck (under the pen name James S. A. Corey). Abraham and Franck will be show producers. The multi-installment, best-selling book series is published in 17 countries, including China, France, Japan, Australia, Canada, Germany and the United Kingdom. One in the series, Leviathan Wakes, was nominated for a Hugo Award as well as a Locus Award, while “Caliban’s War” was nominated for a Locus Award.

Brilliant series. The best I've seen from Syfy since the Battle Star Galactica. The cast, plot, visuals are incredible - I could hardly believe I was watching a TV series - it seemed more suited to something on the Big Screen. This one is going on my top 10 must watch TV list. Warning: The first episode is a little hard to slug through. Expect some disorientation during the first 45 minutes as the series plunges you head-first into this world with its strange yet achingly familiar socio-political structure. Afterwards, however, the series is pure gold. Can't wait for the 2nd season.

I would suggest to everyone to spread this series and recommend it to all their friends because I'm having the feeling it might be cancelled just like Firefly (Serenity) or Kings and the series are actually one of the few sci-fi shows that are actually good. Also like the facebook page. Might make some difference.

Now that I've finished watching the first three seasons of the show, I can say I understand why some people weren't impressed by this add.
If you can get past that, it's a very good show. Now I just wish season 4 would hurry up and be released already.

I started watching because of it popped up in some random article, i figured i would give it a shot. The fact that is was a "Syfy" original series pushed me away partially but holy crap i was astounded by the first episode. This show performed above and beyond my expectations, great effects, great dialogue, great plot. Better yet only 8 episodes in it is already one of my favorites, which is hard to do for me.

"Cheap effects" ... are you joking? these are great for a TV series! especially for something that is literally just starting AND its a "Syfy" series, im sorry i lost faith when that channel changed its name and its programming to cheap trashy movies with crappy dialogue and horrible cgi.

I enjoy every minute of this show and every episode leaves me begging for more, if you are a science fiction/space/tech junkie you will like this show.
