I'm 52 and through golf I have 2 good older friends. A guy named Phil who is 93 and went to WW2 aged 15 1/2. He's completely amazing and still talks like he's 70 and moves and drives like he's 60. My other, and closer buddy is Jim. Just 6 months younger than Phil and he fought in the first wave in Korea. He will be 93 July 2 (10 day's away), and is just a great and very tough guy also. I love them both and treasure their friendship!

As our country gets closer to another unnecessary conflict someone on TV mentioned none of the politicians making the decisions about war had ever been in a conflict like ww2. These stories are so compelling. I wish they would talk to these older warriors. They truly are the greatest generation.

Fellow Navy man here Royal Australian Navy. You truly are appreciated for everything you had to endure for future generations. You and your whole generation are the greatest generation. My grandfather was in the Australian defence force in New Guinea during the war he passed away before I was born and he never spoke of the war to his children so hearing WW2 veterans stories no matter what country they are from or what service it helps me understand and appreciate his service and what your generation had to endure even more, thank you Sir.

Thank you Mr. Jackson for your D-day storey. My Father was in an Anti-tank regiment at El Alamein & Normandie and said very little of his experiences. You Americans have my thanks for the sacrifices you made. Respect from a English man, proud of my Fathers involvement.

My great uncle was on LST 338 and got wounded at Omaha Beach on D-Day. From what I understand he never really talked to anyone about the war, he died in 2016.
