So NBC is implying here that its a big deal he is not taking the stand, when in reality, regardless of guilt or innocence it is almost never recommended by defense that the defendant take the stand, especially when the defense has a decent case. What NBC is implying is that he is not taking the stand because of guilt, but in reality it is likely because his words could be misinterpreted and he could be caught off guard by questions from cross examination in a way that will work against him.

Chauvin Trial, in a Nutshell

Prosecution: knee on neck killed Floyd due to lack of oxygen.

Defense: all these other things may have killed him, including exhaust fumes.

Prosecution: exhaust fumes couldn't have killed him because his oxygen level was 98%.
