Patra Pinda Sweda—Healing Poultice Massage | Oneworld Ayurveda in Ubud, Bali

During your Ayurvedic Panchakarma retreat, you will most likely experience the Patra Pinda Sweda treatment. It is blissful and relieves pain, reduces physical and mental stress and nourishes and rejuvenates the body. It is often used for treating joint pain and stiffness from arthritis, sciatica or other pain conditions and it also increases circulation and increases perspiration, helping the skin to eliminate toxins, thereby also improving skin tone. For the treatment, leaves of medicinal plants are sliced and tied into a bolus. Which plants are used depends on your condition. The bolus is then heated with herbal oils in a pan and used to gently massage the areas of the body that are pain-inflicted. As soon as the bolus cools down, it is a replaced with a new heated one.
