Drinking a rare Hawaiian coffee

Have you tried Kona Coffee before? I risked it all by making an espresso out of the 113g I had but by luck, I nailed it on the first try. I also made a tasty Hawaiian-style latte.

My parents went on a trip to Hawaii and brought this coffee back for me to try, along with the shirt I’m wearing and the pineapple shaped monkeypod wood trivet I was using. Really enjoyed all the souvenirs!

I’m not sure how shipping costs are to the mainland, but in Hawaii, a bag of specialty grade Kona coffee doesn’t cost much more than most other specialty coffees, and you can find bags in Whole Foods here or at a lot of our local specialty coffee shops. Could probably find it for even cheaper in Kona

I remember being able to get bags of ground kona dor so cheap as a kid and it was one of the smoothest, lovely and sweet coffee's i have ever drank....now it's wicked expensive and can be hard to procure.

Yes, Kona coffee is a tiny percentage of total coffee production in the world, but it is by no means rare. You can find it easily at specialty grocery stores and better coffee houses throughout the U.S. I used to get mine at a European coffee house where it was roasted in house from raw beans and I didn't even live in a big city.

When I lived in kona I used to buy estate fresh roasted coffee from my neighbor. Was about $15 a pound at that time

Super rare at 1% of the worlds coffee production?? What?? I don’t even have to research to know that this cannot be true at all.

That would mean every cup in every 100 cups of coffee are made from this bean. I think Nestle would be happy if they had 1%.
