Building the Hollow Limb Osage Orange Selfbow | BOW GIVEAWAY

This week we're back in the bow building workshop making another wooden longbow. This time I'm building a hollow limbed selfbow from Osage Orange. The hollow limb bow design works great with the high crowned staves from small diameter trees. This ASMR bow building video shows the entire bow making process from start to finish but doesn't explain everything that's going on. For those who want more detail, I've uploaded a different version of this video on my Patreon site (link below) that gives more explanation. I'm also giving this bow away over on the patreon site. Details for that can also be found at the link below. If you're just looking for woodworking or asmr woodcarving, this one's for you. #bowbuilding #asmrwoodcarving #bowandarrow

Don't forget to subscribe to the channel. We're uploading a new video each week that features one of the following topics: archery, bow hunting, bow building, survival skills, bushcraft, self reliance, primitive skills, primitive bows, hunting, camping, fishing, and a lot more!

Big thanks to our partners who help support these videos!

So today is December 19, 2023 I built a bow with my great nephew, he's only 4 and is crazy about archery, so we built him a 20lbs draw short bow, I just got him to come in fron shooting the bow, he sat Down to eat and fell a sleep in his chair, it was a good day

Very impressive! I seriously doubt there’s time enough in this life for me to attain your knowledge much less skill at building such incredible instruments, much less learning to wield one with any real mastery. Lucky for me, there’s still a great deal of joy to be had watching and admiring the skill and talent you have acquired in your time. Thank you for this!

My boyfriend got me into shooting bows and watching your videos. I went from showing horses to bow shooting. The making of the bow is pretty awesome. I’d love to own one of your bows one day.
Keep making videos as they’re inspiring.

When i was at school many years ago my favorite class was woodwork, i love working with wood. Unfortunately for other reasons ive not got back into this passion i had as a kid, but watching these as im learning archery at the moment just inspires me to get back into it, getting the necessary tools, preferably none electric and then one day making my own bow. I cant imagine the feeling of shooting a bow you have made. Fantastic content.

Osage Orange (A.K.A. Hedge) is the bomb for bows - but I only built one because the wood is ridiculously resinous and hard, and I completely used up several draw knives in the process. Going to watch your video with great interest.

Ive made a couple hollow limb bows now. Donit the same way you do. Only downside is trying to hold that rounded scraper so when it gets hot from all the friction it doesnt burn yoir fingertips!😂 I know....i could wear gloves but my hands dont function as well with them.

Ive probably watched this video 3x at this point. Always a good watch.

Beautiful, love the simplicity in the design. I'm using what I've learned from you and a couple others for my handles..
I'll be sanding and tillering all day..
Thanks
:)

There´s something really satisfying in watching you work, you make it look so easy. Soon I´ll give it a go, try my hand at an ash stave I acquired. Reading your handbook atm, and soaking in your vids. Thanks Clay, thanks a lot.

I wish I knew someone like you. I’ll be turning 67 in a few months. With the state of affairs I’ve begun prepping. I’ve stocked up on food, pack backpacks for winter and summer. But haven’t learned bushcraft yet.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bolt of Osage that long and straight. Just that piece of wood is amazing to me.

I find this process fascinating. You take what is essentially a log and make it into the work of art. Amazing! 👍
