I love Chovy, but people saying "he could be the G.O.A.T. of LoL" is such a joke, Faker started his career with no players to copy and review their moves, no book, he had to create his own that changed LoL gaming entirely and what he made was now followed by sets of players including Chovy

I firmly believe that Faker was an inspiration to Chovy as a mid laner, I know he watched Faker's "Zed" (iykyk) and thought to himself that he could do that one day, and he did, but only because he has someone to follow and a book to review that Faker made

I also loved that Chovy is ascending as a player and maybe even better than Faker, but let's not talk about him replacing the Demon King because there are a lot of thrones in League of Legends, the only thing he can do is create a throne beside Faker

No matter how many wins and trophies Chovy gets, how much he has outdone the G.O.A.T., it will always come down to stranger's answer who does not play LoL, about who's a famous player he or she knows that plays LoL, and I guarantee it's either "I don't know" or of course "FAKER"

I'm playing League for 10 years. For all those years, I've heard too many players as the best one. In 2019, all the world were thinking Caps was the best midlaner in the world, but sadly his success didn't quite expanded. After him, Showmaker considered to be the best one, but he was also not able to hold that title for long. And now, people are making the same mistake, considering Chovy as the ultimate best midlaner in the world. There won't be another midlaner that holds the title of being the best for more than 10 years.
I couldn't say that Chovy will be forgotten after several years, afterall, I'm not going to forget him but, I am assuming that his success wouldn't continue like this. While deciding the greatest players, don't just consider his last tournament. This was his first International success, it is too sharp opinion to say that he is the ultimate best one.
Not only in League of Legends, but in all e-sports there are times that even the greatest players stumbles. After 2017, too many people were saying "Faker is gone forever." but look what he did at Worlds in last two years.

I really don't get the Chovy vs Faker thingy.
They play very differently, even if we compare the earlier years of Faker.

Faker was the unstoppable force. He gambles his plays and would often get leads out of nowhere. Then comes the years when it couldn't win him the game alone, he adjusted himself to be a team player, sacrifices laning advantage for playmaking.

Chovy was and still is, the immovable object. He'd always keep himself ahead of the opponent with almost no mistake or any holes to exploit. He follows the handbook and setup things step to step, and it is almost impossible to flip the game against him once he's ahead.

They both have flaws tho.
Faker would try to flip the game by letting himself into dangerous situations. The gambles could back fire, and he'd put himself further and further behind.
Chovy needs his team to stay relevant before he gets into positions to carry. His team has to adjust to play around him or else his leads couldn't be transferred into advantages.

They both are the greatest of greatest, but they excel at very different styles.

You can compare their current play/skills but you cannot compare Chovy with Faker’s achievements.

No doubt Chovy is currently the best midlaner in the worlds.. it’s a fact. Yet he is far away to be at par with Faker. Faker gained so many tittles in his prime era and till now despite his age and health issue he still able to remain on top! However that doesnt mean Chovy cant beat the records, he can but he need some more years to prove that he’s really the best.

Plus I hope people can stop comparing and just enjoy the games. Please respect the players n dont call them choky or shaker!

I had actually just started watching pro League again, which at this time was being run by the OGN with PapaSmithy and Atlus casting. I was there in Summer '18 when Chovy's 4-man shockwave against the Afreeca Freecs sent Griffin to the LCK summer finals. I was there when Griffin nearly beat KT Rolster in the summer grand finals.

I was there when PapaSmithy quit casting. I was there when LS joined and eventually quit the casters due to the T1 controversy. I was there when Wadid _shudder_ was on the cast. I was there when Chronicler joined the casting crew. I was there when Griffin fell, and all the players scattered to the winds. Chovy went to DRX and played with Deft and Keria, then HLE where he played with 4 nobodies, and finally when Chovy joined GenG.

I was there when Chovy won his first LCK title. And the second, and the third, and the fourth. Now, at last, I was there when Chovy won his first international title.


Those feelings that Chronicler showed on the analyst desk after game 4 of MSI 24's grand finals, all of us Chovy fans felt the same too! FINALLY, FINALLY!!! However, it is such a shame how Riot and the LCK have treated GenG after their MSI victory, with almost zero recognition being given. There's no GenG icon on summoner's rift to celebrate their MSI win, no videos from the LCK about their MSI win or about GenG/Chovy breaking their LPL curse. Instead, what do we get instead? Tons and tons of videos about the Hall of Legends to "immortalize" aka milk Faker's name. They couldn't even wait a week after MSI ending to start up the Hall of Legends videos!

I'm sure the goalposts for Chovy will be moved once again. I've already seen tons of salty Faker fans post about how "MSI doesn't count" and what not. But I guarantee had T1 won MSI, we'd be seeing T1's logo on Summoner's Rift, there'd be tons of videos posted on LCK's channel about Faker bringing the MSI trophy home for the first time in 7 years. If T1 had won, nobody would be downplaying their victory and saying that 'MSI doesn't count'...

Riot wants us all to buy $500 Faker skins, who are us mere mortals to argue with them? With all the Faker videos being pumped out by the LCK, you'd think it was T1 that won MSI!
