Thanks dude, will remember this when i'm 45 minutes into a drunken bet, after 2 whiskeys, 3 shots and 7 beers.

Man it’s refreshing seeing a video that actually teaches or re-teaches without all the extra crap. Merci.

What most of you don't seem to realize is that he is not aiming differently so that certain spins will "prove his point". Any left side English makes the cue ball glance to the right slightly when first hit therefore making it bounce off the rail as shown. Right side English solves that problem and even makes the cue ball comeback toward the rail a little. If you watch closely enough you can even see the object ball come BACK TOWARD the rail slightly thanks to the spin imparted on it from the cue ball when he hit it with top/right English. Making the cue ball go straight down the rail staying in contact with it and then making the object ball do the same is virtually impossible for anyone of any skill level. I found this video to be quite informative. Thx JBilliards

I asked an old timer who was quite good at billiards, "what's the secret"? He said come here and take a look at the table. What do you see? I said well I see a table, and some colored balls....what else is there?
He then told me this...." On any good billiards table setup, there are 3 bulbs in the overhead light fixture, that make 3 light reflections on each ball. Down each side of the table are 3 pockets, and in between the pockets are 3 diamonds or sights. It's no coincidence." As he said it, I "saw it". Holy cow. My game was instantly elevated. After that I learned proper stance and stroke(swing from the elbow, not the shoulder). I started playing with english, speed and masse. Left, right, follow and draw. Proper way to groom the felt tip and chalking. And I eventually realized that there was a geometrical way of "measuring" every kind of shot, and I started using the mirror ball and mirror pocket concept along with the light reflections. On straight shots. Cut shots. Bank shots. Back skuttle shots. Combo shots. Run the rail shots. It is really all right there for all to "see."

If you made that shot in the 1600s, instantly declared a witch.

Opposite spin is always applied to the object ball, so it hugs the cushion with right spin.. you can pot it with top or bottom but it must be struck very well.. this helps the pot

I feel like a lot of folks commenting haven't played much pool. Making a shot down the rail like this requires exactly the same precision as any other shot. If you're off so that it comes off the rail or goes into the rail you're missing it either way. Every one of those shots would have been a miss away from the rail, only the right hand ones were made because you hit into the rail (missing the shot) and then a slight masse back in.

Clearly aiming the other shots wrong to validate your theory. Not useful at all😂

IT’S ALWAYS THIS SITUATION AND THAT CORNER

If the cue ball strikes the target ball and cushion at the same time, it will ride down the rail into the pocket no matter what kind of spin the cue ball has. Spin is mostly used for cue ball placement for the next shot, not to actually make the shot itself.
Obviously there are exceptions for stuff like masse and jump shots.

some people here do not understand the physics correctly ... the right side of the ball has to stay in touch with the rail, so this will create friction, which creates "unwanted" english, even if shooting dead straight, using left hand English will increase this effect, using right hand english will basically counter the effect, IF you manage to compensate for throw and match the exact amount of speed, so no one in their right mind would really go for this shot but to make it work the right hand english would be the only real solution ...

If you hit the object ball properly, you’d pot all of them

With all the straight ball shots, the cue ball is off the cushion before impacting the object ball. So no matter how many times you hit it like that its never going to pot the ball.

Lol I can pot it with just backspin easily. I feel like u intentionally aimed a bit left, not straight while applying direct backspin.

If you notice the trail worn into the felt that runs down the rail. That is caused by not sweeping the table everyday. It creates a trail just like a dog trail in the yard or cow trail in a pasture. The ball will follow the trail if you just hit the ball regardless of spin. The ball will stay on the trail and follow it down the rail.

So when you put left, you follow through to the center, causing more squirt. When you pit right, you are following through more to the right, helping to correct some squirt.

I just learned why I can never make these shots 😅 thank you 👍
