Hey Mark, my wife and I will be in Italy next weekend. October 17th. Can’t wait. Lost our trip before due to you know what. Thanks for the video.

Mark! A vid on tourist traps worth the money would be fun to watch! I’m always super cautious of tourist traps whenever I visit someplace new, but sometimes I wanna do the touristy thing!

Hey Mark - I'm watching this on replay now, sad I missed it live! Fantastic tips as always! It's still super useful to watch after the fact, too. :)

I read today (USA Today) that Australia changed their minds. They will be closed to tourist until 2022. I don't know if that is the beginning of 2022 or the end of 2022. Anyone thinking of going to Australia should check on that.

Have strangely enjoyed the past 18 months of travel - places cheap and very happy to see tourists - have been to places we never thought we would go to - like Egypt, Ukraine, UAE. Places that accept US travelers without quarantine or other hurdles. We have avoided places that may be difficult like Western Europe, Canada, Australia.

If any of y’all are looking to use points for travel but don’t travel often enough to justify a travel card, consider general credit cards that allow for that. I have a chase sapphire preferred card and it allows me to use all my points towards travel and since it’s not company specific, I can use it on any airline and for any hotel. It’s pretty great. My flights and hotel to Nashville were purchased using points from that card.

Love your videos. I’ve watched a zillion in the last month. Headed to Paris in May. Have learned so much from you. Keep up the great work. Your family is adorable too!!!

Thank you for all your advice! We have a vacation planned for Amsterdam and the UK next year. Always planning way in advance as it is always easier for us to adjust as we go instead of worrying about flights, accomodations at the last minute. Life brings enough stress to our lives, don't want our vacation to be stressful.

Thanks for the video mark. I don’t think you realize what these videos do for people who have a passion to travel (not vacation) and haven’t been able to the past few years. It’s really helping me fill a hole I have with not being able to pick and and go someplace random for a few days. 2 more years and my house is paid for meaning my mortgage payment can go toward more places each year. 👍🏼 I’ve always been interested in videos of bad travel experiences and warnings but I’m not sure if you’re trying to promote that stuff on this channel.

I just got back to the US from Poland and thankfully the travel restrictions didn't change when I was gone. The only time I needed a Covid test was to return to the US, and the airport in Poland was doing them 24 hours a day for about 45 dollars. My vaccination card helped keep me from having to quarantine in Poland and Ukraine, but Ukraine had an odd requirement. I had to buy Ukranian insurance to cover Covid, only their insurance. Luckily it wasn't too expensive. Things went pretty smoothly, but I was just afraid of requirements changing when i was over there.

Also depends when and how you bought it. If you bought a low budget ticket or a ticket through Expedia etc.... the cost of the flights when trying to rebook can be more than triple the price of what you would pay to book a brand new flight....these offers were quite misleading

Agree that the days of traveling by the seat of your pants are over. You need to have hotels, sites, restaurants booked or good luck finding a room, getting to the restaurant you really want to eat at, or getting into that vineyard/museum/historical site. Prices are definitely higher post-Covid. I traveled extensively between Feb and Nov 2021 within the US. Hotels for touristy destinations across the country were super expensive ($200 to $700+ per night) and decent hotels are fully booked. I paid $800 for a round trip ticket from Newark to SFO, previously, that ticket would've been less than $500. It was $1200 to fly out to CA around July Fourth. Restaurant prices have also gone up substantially, so keep that in mind when you travel. I'm not holding my breath that low prices of pre-Covid days are coming back.

We just went to Paris and it was easy to get a health pass at the pharmacy there. They did check it at almost every restaurant, shop, and museum. We brought with us BD Veritor at-home COVID-19 tests, and easily did the tests in our VRBO the day before departure. I would recommend bringing a spare in case someone messes up the process.

We have scheduled trips (with credit) for London and Edinburgh in Jan and Feb to start. We have traveled in the USA quite a bit already and ready to venture out of the US. Delta has been awesome with rescheduling and etc. I live in Orlando, FL and incoming planes have always been at compacity. Lots of people coming. lol We did cancel trips to Hawaii, just to much of a gamble right now. Great video and thanks for the heads up about coming back into the country.

just returned from a month in Croatia and Slovenia. Yes, must have a data plan on your phone: online forms, reservations, appointments, notifications of flights changes way more than in the past, etc. and Everything requires a scan of a QR code. No paper menus at restaurants or paper fliers at sites, it's all QR scans. It was great! Also, regarding getting tested before flying back to the US, we planned a 2-night stay in the city we flew home from (in the old days we would have just had a quick one night stay-fly the next day) and SO glad we did, needed the back up plan for getting tested AND filling out/printing CDC forms. Overall, the trip was amazing!

Thanks for your travel tips. My husband and I traveled to Greece this September for 16 days. We are both vaccinated and it was a fantastic experience.
