Greece is Key in Building a Resilient EU Pharma Industry
Dimitris Demos, CEO of DEMO Pharmaceuticals, is carrying out the largest investment in Greece’s pharmaceutical industry.
In the 1990s, Europe, the U.S., and Japan produced about 90% of the world’s APIs. Now, approximately 80% of these are supplied by China and India. The EU is determined to bring this production back to the bloc and Mr. Demos believes “Greece can be the supplier of pharmaceutical products for all of Europe”. With DEMO’s new €450 million investment plan, Greece is set to become part of a "closed league" of 15 countries – globally – active in the development of biotech APIs.
