I caught the moment when the earthquake occurred. This is how I reacted.
I was located in Tokyo area, Japan but the epicenter was Fukushima. (Scale 6 upper, M7.1)

That one really did shake for a long time. As a Californian I deal with earthquakes from time to time. It gets pretty unnerving when the whole house starts shaking and it lasts longer than a few seconds. Glad you guys are okay.

Experienced a small one while on holiday in Tokyo in 2019. It is pretty scary when you are not used to it. I’m glad it wasn’t as big as this one.

I love Japan and I would love to live there but the frequency and unpredictability of earthquakes terrifies me. Ive visited Japan 3 times and luckily never encountered an earthquake (that I’m aware of anyway).

I saw a webcam atop a large building in the city and while it started shaking you could see lights going out and flashes (which I believe was transformers) . Glad you are safe.
