Alexander Stubb was elected as the President of Finland on the second round of voting in February 2024.
There were 9 candidates on the first round. All of them accomplished in various ways, but 8 with also very broad political and international experience.
I personally voted for Alex Stubb, but would have been quite content with 7 other choices (so, leaving one).
To my mind it is still amazing that we, a country of 5 million people, could have such a choice of accomplished candidates.
Not wanting to name any names, one still has to wonder whether the US political system is up to date to produce the most capable person to fill the post of the most powerful leader on Earth?

Please send this DW journalist to Ukraine on sightseeing tour . So he can see for himself if his country needs missiles to defend itself or not . Also he needs a history lesson . Defenseless Baltic states were overrun by soviets in the matter of days, while Finland fought and preserved it's sovereignty and way of life .
