A New way to edit FUJI RAW files

I've been using a new way to edit Fuji raw files and thought I would share this with you today. I have made several videos in the past regarding Fuji raw files, but Adobe has made a number of changes to their software over the past 12 months which have brought some significant improvements for us Fuji users. In this video, I will look at my past methods and compare them with this new method for bringing out the most detail from a RAF file.

Ian for your reassurance - viewing the video this morning - was so much better - slider descriptions in the develop module are legible as well the photo comparisons. Very happy with your tips. Thankyou Cheerz.

Hi Ian, thanks for this. I was wondering if you have tried the Irident X-transformer plugin for LR. If you have, is it worth it? In the past I have used LR and PS to edit Nikon files and obviously Fuji is going to be a different ball game.

I don’t normally watch these kind of videos but this was very helpful for Fuji

Thank you for the video Ian, very informative and well presented as usual. I liked the DNG conversion method and will be taking this route when I finally get the opportunity to finally use my newly acquired X-T2 out in the field whenever that will be. In the mean time stay safe. Thanks again.

Thanks for the video, very good and I have now revisted the enhanced details that I looked at when it came out and to me seemed overly strong. I now find that this is perfectly decent at getting rid of work effects in distant foliage. I have no need now to get Capture One. Saved me some bucks, thank you.
Can I just make sure... does it matter what sharpening settings are initially applied before you go to the enhanced details button?

Super good and educational video especially for newbies like me - great help as I’m coming from Nikon and I didn’t know what to do against those wormy artifacts

Thanks a lot for clear and detailed explanations. Really helps to understand how to fight worms!)

I love the texture slider too. Best LR upgrade for ages. Iridient X DNG then LR sharpening plus texture works for me. I find best results with no detail sharpening at all, as that's where the worms start to come in when you apply it in my experience.

Been using capture one every since! It is very good!

Thanks for this Ian, interesting to see the side by side comparisons. I tend to use the 100% details approach, mainly because both other approaches mean more big files. Like you I quite like the texture slider, used sparingly and sometimes alongside a little negative clarity. I'd be interested in how your image came out with texture applied to the RAF, rather than the DNG - would help show how much of the improvement was down to 'enhanced details' and how much was the 'texture'. I'll have a play with one of mine, but interested to hear your views

Have you tried luminar or capture one, or Iridient with Fujifilm RAF files?

Thanks Ian ...very good . One query . I have always been told to take out noise before doing any sharpening so that I do not sharpen noise . Do you advocate taking out noise first please ?

Hi Ian, thanks for this informative post. Two questions... is it your normal workflow to choose the film simulation as a first step? Also I see you don’t convert to DNG but stick with the RAF file. Is there a disadvantage to converting to DNG? Thanks in advance for your reply.

finally I can switch to X-trans with no issues! :) Ian, did you look at sensors comparison on petapixel (X-Trans vs Bayer), any thoughts about it?
