the auto focus button is switched off. there's a little tab on top of the focus wheel. press it down and it should work again! put it side to side with yours that works, and notice that tab!
and the cameras had different stiffness on the prop up arm. I've had a couple of sx70's and they were all different. some super easy to prop up, others not so much!

there exists a serial number calculator on th open sx-70 website and on mints website, will give you the configuration, production year, and a lot mor on the camera

The frame is not metal, it's an alloy-coated thermoplastic (which is news to me, also). But I guess that's why they never have dings.

The film has gotten better bright Ssn even if you're using the filter with the 600 film. I really don't notice any brownish tones unless some of the subject matter in the shot is a tan or brownish color.
