In the 1970s, Ross Rowland was looking for a locomotive to pull the upcoming American Freedom Train for the country's bicentennial. He considered on one of three locomotives: NKP 763, N&W, & RDG 2101. 611 was nearly chosen for the Freedom Train on the east coast, but never came to be, since Reading 2101 was chosen for the motive power instead. What if he chose differently?....

There was three locomotives that pulled the Freedom train across 48 states and they were Southern Pacific 4449, Reading Company T-1 2101 and Texas & Pacific 610 nothing about the 611. The Freedom train started on April 1 1975 and ended on December 31 1976. The 611 was built on May 29 1950. The 611 had its own job of pulling passengers and pulled freight in 2015.
