Wild Edible: Sumac shoots #shorts

Показать описание
Tree of heaven or alianthus (Ailanthus altissima, not edible) appears similar. Its leaflets have entire margins but for a small lobe at the base of each side, and smell like peanut butter.

Poison sumac (Toxicodendron vernix) is not commonly encountered, as it is a swamp dweller, but should be avoided. Aim only for edible sumacs whose colonies make upright clusters of small red berries, not dangling clusters of white berries.
