Pulsar 2849 was the biggest surprise for me from last year. A bone dry point salad from an unknown designer that I ended up loving. Can this designer make lightning strike twice and produce another solid hit for me?

I like Pulsar 2849, Terraforming Mars and Underwater Cities. I own all 3 and play them all regularly. I find UC to be about half way between TfM and Pulsar in feels anyway.

I've played the game plenty of time. It seems everyone always highlighted about the cards, and forgot that the actions worker space on the board are (the most) important. Yes playing the cards is fun but I've had many situations that the best thing to do is taking the board action and ignore the cards. Think the cards just a bonus you can get and your most important goal is to build your cities, and how you do it mostly rely on those action space on the board. I love the game.

Fun fact: "suchy" in Polish means "dry", really! And it's funny when the author with a "dry" surname makes another dry game, and what's more, it's located thematically underwater, but it's still dry 😊 By the way, Pulsar got an advanced game of the year award in Poland last weekend.

I love this game. I feel the theme with every card play. I couldn’t wait for it to come out. My only problem is that it’s a long game. It doesn’t need to be so long but that is easy to mitigate - it’s three acts. Just play 2 or 1 act instead.

The Card limitations is only for one Type of card. Your hand is limited to three cards at the beginning of your turn. I don't remember which ones but you not limited to five cards in sum in your player area.

Damn. I wasn't aware that you do such in-depth reviews. The game was on my buy list for a while just because of the hype but your review convinced me to better stay away from it. I'll stick to Pulsar :)

I have to admit I was tempted to get Underwater Cities but the time per player really puts it against other games we have that I really like amongst our collections, so it would get played less. I also wasn't in love with Terraforming Mars, I didn't hate it but it felt very slow and I was always broke throughout the entire game each time we played. After three plays and when the time would come for our group to make game suggestions, the words Terraforming Mars never seem to leave our lips.
Speaking of heavy Mars games, are you backing On Mars? I backed it but I'm a little nervous on how heavy it is, my group hasn't yet played a Vital Lacerda game. Our heaviest games are probably Founders of Gloomhaven, Brass Birmingham, Argent the Consortium and Rising Sun. Do you have any suggestions for teaching heavier games and assisting in the first game be more enjoyable?

Thank you Luke - watched/listened a lot of reviews on this one - and I finally got how it works. I will probably pass on this one - it looks cool but nothing really exceptional :)

I feel 30 minutes for one game is too long even with useful timestamps (thanks for that). I'd rather watch a tight 10-15 minutes review at max next time. Or pick up similar games and make a comparative review.
