Miata wasn't working after some heavy rain and you know how great a leaky soft top is... Hope this helps you guys with your projects! This is a quick video to show you how to do a hard wire switch into your fuel pump and should get you running and drive home! I had my bypass in for a month and it worked fine! Roughly 200 miles before submitting and buying a new relay switch off Rockauto for $50.

So I done this and it works thanks for this didn’t realise there is two relays in this car with the same part number (B5B4). This tells me the fuel pump does prime and work so that means my relay is faulty?

This can be done just as easily through the diagnostic box in the engine bay. Also, its running like that because the main power to all the pcm components is likely not powering anything inside the engine bay.
Either bad relay, or more complicated issue like my 99 nb. If that relay is not switching you'll get no power to things like your tps sensor, maybe spark, that sensor in the air intake. Ect.

Question: so you jump the fuel pump relay to the constant power (on) relay using wire? As in you put one end of the red wire in the top left and the other end in the top middle. But did you plug back in the yellow connector when you started the car? Are you supposed to jump the wire, turn the key into the on position, let the pump prime, take out the red jumper wire, plug back in the yellow connector, and then start the car? If not, how?

So I just found out in my miata that the previous owner bypassed the relay with a wire as well. I've been getting horrible gas mileage so would adding a relay improve my gas mileage?

Did this on a 92.
It would stall out if you and still turn off thefuel pump.
When I felt the jumper which was a large enough wire was super hot.
Connected the relay and it went back to running fine.

I had installed the jumper while troubleshooting a no start that ended up being not related to fuel pump

Mine won’t start and had the same issue. I did replace the fuel pump relay still nothing. The only thing that worked was a wire connected to the battery and fuel pump giving constant power. Any suggestions? I guess my thought was running a fuel pump switch

My 91 Miata is having a similar problem I’ve replaced fuel pump and filter and I bought a new relay and yet it still won’t turn on (my radio also won’t turn on) I did however put a paper clip in it just like you did with the wire and I heard the pump start to prime but the paper clip had to be a certain way so I wasn’t able to get it started any help would be greatly appreciated

I was installing a jegs ignition switch and a hot accidentally touched a ground and shorted out and now nothing will start. I noticed the 80A fuse was blown. If I replace that fuse will it fix this issue? Literally nothing will turn on. The interior lights, dash lights, absolutely nothing will turn on. Any tips?

hi, I had the same issue with the fuel pump relay, I bypassed the wire and it worked and I got another one I plugged in and the fuel pump relay still doesn’t work, so you know what happened?

Idk about you guys but for me when I run it like this is starts to get so hot it melts the plug anyone and when I plug my relay melts the insides anyone knows any solutions?
