Flammable gas & CO detector - test and teardown

Показать описание
Today, let's take a look at SAFE-808 COM, a 2 in 1 combined detector of combustible gasses (like methane, propane, butane, natural gas, CNG, LPG, ...) and toxic carbon monoxide (CO). It has an alarm to warn you in case of a gas leak or CO leak. It can help to prevent an explosion or gas poisoning (suffocation). Let's "properly" test this detector and also see what's inside and how does it work.

Fun fact. "Pozor" in Czech means "attention" while in Russian it means "shame"

I respected your hesitation to open but after some seconds you got me by telling "its a joke"

You have the best Christmas tree I've seen in this season.

It's weird seeing something relatively well made that works as expected in the channel.

11:40 Put one of these in a garage with an old 80's American car with a carb. The LCD display will literally go to >999 and the unit goes ballistic when you start it up.

You got me there again..

thank you for education on this and CO and flammable gases I have or may not smelled a natural gas leak in my life much but I appreciate it DiodeGoneWild

You have great sense of humour, with the Xmas tree and presents as well. Thanks for explaining the gas rings. I noticed sometimes the flame goes out after initial ignition - I never understood why I had to hold the igniter a bit longer. Now I see it's not really the igniter, it's that heat sensitive safety valve. I like the interesting things you show us, I enjoyed the green flip clock very much. Regards from New Zealand.

This device that you just teardown is one of my favourites so far, keep up the good work man, this is amazing!

It might be worth stressing that CO is produced by incomplete combustion of *any* fuel - wood, coke, charcoal, paraffin (kerosene), coal… Not just gas. The candles experiment highlighted this. It's worth installing a CO detector wherever a heater is installed unless it's an electric heater - it's a legal requirement to do so in some places.

This video taught me about the gas stop system. 8:15 We have a gas stove that required holding the button for like a minute before the flame could stay on. Turns out its gas stop sensor was just dirty. After cleaning, it works fine again.

The carbon monoxide experiment is AWESOME! Thank you Diode! Happy new year!!

In Romania it is mandatory to have it as safety device. It is connected to an electrovalve outside the building and that electrovalve stops the gas. You must reset manualy the electrovalve after an alarm.
